IPNA Currents 02/2018
I hope this newsletter will find you active, positive and in good shape!
Our Association Management Company has been Europa for 3 years and Maguy Sicuro did a great job for us, spending time and bringing a lot of personal investment to IPNA. Europa services were adapted to our requests but, due to financial reasons, the Council voted to hire a new company, C-IN, and I am glad to introduce Lucie Semanská to you!

She will be your contact person and we already started a nice collaboration.
Our next important appointment will be the 18th IPNA congress in Venice, October 17-21 2019, and a very exciting scientific program is being prepared. But we also have to identify a venue for the nest congress in 2022, and you will receive a call bid for bids for the venue very soon!
I wish you a nice summertime for those living in the northern hemisphere and a nice wintertime for those living in the southern hemisphere! Kind regards,
Pierre Cochat

We are pleased to present you the final reports of the annual World Kidney Day Initiative. Dr. Lt Col Dr Suprita Kalra from Puta, India, won the competition and there were two events in Puta, that were organized with his great help. Dr. Kalra appreciated the WKD initiative: “We at AFMC and KEMH, Pune are deeply honored that our project was chosen by IPNA on the occasion of WKD 2018. Ours was a simple project with the intent to be able to do some good to maximum children and the award has given wings to this.” We believe that the project will bring the same attention also next year! |

This is an exciting new pilot project launched by IPNA with an aim to link developing pediatric renal units in less well resourced regions(EMERGING CENTRE) to experienced pediatric renal units in well resourced regions(SUPPORTING CENTRE) on a 1 to 1 basis. The IPNA Sister Centre Committee consisted of 10 individuals from different regions and developed specific criteria for scoring including clinical training and education, geographic proximity and previous IPNA fellows within these pairs.
We were excited to receive 9 applications for this pilot project and found it difficult to make the decisions. At the end of the day the successful candidates for this first IPNA Sister Centre is the pair:
- Randall Lou Meda – Guatemala to Melvin Bonilla – San Juan, South America.
We congratulate them but also all the others who applied and look forward to this being a successful program. Thanks also to the committee for their hard work in setting this up. Mignon McCulloch / IPNA Sister Centre Program Chair

IPNA was a sponsor of the International workshop on Developmental Nephrology that took place in Ein-Gedi Resort on the Dead Sea, Israel at the end of April. The feedback from the participants was very positive. “I guess the recipe is the following: Good science, good discussion, cozy remote venue that encourages interactions beyond the lecture hall,” described the success of the event Prof. Dekel Binyamin. Prof. Greg Dressler also pointed out, that a good number of junior faculty were able to present new and unpublished results, rather than just established PIs.
We look forward to seeing you at any of the upcoming event!
