I am glad to tell you that the first months spent with our new Association Management Company (C-IN) have been successful and the transition has started on an excellent basis. Our journal is in very good health, and the current impact factor of Pediatric Nephrology is 2.627.

The number of Teaching Courses and IPNA Fellows is growing well, involving most part of the world, and the Sister Centre program is starting. The next council meeting will be held in San Diego before the ASN week on October: all IPNA activities will be discussed, and we also plan to discuss revised membership fees and to select the venue for the 2022 IPNA meeting. The minutes of council meetings will be soon available on the website.

Our next IPNA congress will take place in Venice, October 17-21 2019, and the next International workshop on developmental nephrology will be organized in 2021 in Montreal, Canada.

Regarding developing countries, we have been deeply upset by the recent earthquake in Lombok and IPNA has funded medical assistance with $5,000 through the Indonesian Society of Pediatrics. But there are still many things to do since 195 nations are identified, and our membership only includes 105… Your connections with all these countries will help promoting pediatric nephrology all over the world: if you know contact persons, please inform us! Italy is the place of our next congress and we are glad to introduce you to pediatric nephrology in Italy in details. Article written by Luca Dello Strologo and Luisa Murer.

“The lack of some modalities of renal replacement therapy is a major issue in many African countries,” says Prof. Hesham Safouh from Pediatric Nephrology Unit at Cairo University Children Hospital. He also described the upcoming 2nd IPNA – AfPNA Junior Class that will take place in Cairo at the beginning of September.

New applications for IPNA fellowships are being accepted now with deadline on 1st October. Since 2003 there have been more than 160 fellows that IPNA has supported and it is one of our long-standing successful program.

A call for nominating IPNA Honorary Members and IPNA Awards (Ira Greifer Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Renée Habib Award, Award for Educational Activity) is now open*. Deadline for submitting candidates is January 1, 2019.

The selection will be made by the IPNA Executive council based on the evaluation of the Award Commission.

The awardees will be invited to the 18th IPNA Congress in Venice, October 17-21, 2019. On behalf of IPNA Awards Committee Prof. Dr. Elena Levtchenko Chair of the IPNA Honorary Members and Awards Committee

The beautiful seaside city of Antalya, Turkey, will host the next ESPN conference between 3rd – 6th October 2018.
